Neville walked down to the lake, waiting for Ginny. They had arranged a walk together - Just as freinds of course.

Ginny went down by the lake to see if Nevil was there yet. When she arrived there, she saw him standing there. She went up to him and said, "Hey. So, uh, what are we going to do, besides walk?"

Ginny quickly caught up to Neville. While she was walking, she glanced over at the Black Lake and saw the Giant Squid. She liked to call him Herman. "So, uh, how's your grandma," she asked thinking of something to talk about.

Neville sighed. "The usual. Strict, scary..." He turned and looked out at the squid too. The squid moved across so that Ginny was in the way of him looking at it, so he found himself looking into her face again. then something else slipped out. "The light from the stars and moon make you look really beautiful!" His eyes widened. Had he really said that out loud?

"I'm sorry about your grandma. I would die if mine was like that," she said while she was looking at the Giant Squid. But before she could say anything else, Neville complimented her. She didn't know what to say. She started going violently pink. "Uhh, thanks," she said not knowing what to say.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that," said Neville turning away. "Well, I don't mean that the light doesn't make you look good, I just mean I wasn't supposed to - supposed to..." And before he knew it, he was looking at her face again.

"Uh, thanks," stated Ginny as she still didn't know what to say. "Neville, are you okay," she asked as she caught him looking at her.

"Yes," He replied, "I mean no, I mean - I keep saying things by accident, and..." Then he saw she had realised he was staring at her, and looked away. "Shall we carry on?" He asked, and began to walk at a quicker pace.

"Uh, yeah," stated Ginny as she continued to walk around the Black Lake. She was quiet because she didn't know what to talk about.

"So, uh," Neville started to say, trying hard not to say something foolish again, "How was your Summer?" As he asked this, his hand brushed against Ginny's, and he quickly stepped slightly further away from her, embarrased once again.

Ginny kept walking as she felt Neville's hand against hers. She didn't feel anything. "It was fine. I really didn't do anything. What about you," she asked.

"Oh," Neville sighed, relieved she didn't react. "Mine was okay, I suppose-" But then he tripped on a large stone, and feel sideways into the lake! He tried to paddle back to the ground, but had never learnt to swim, so he just ended up falling even deeper....

Neville regained his conciousness, and found that he was back on the ground, with Ginny next to him. He spat out some water, tried to stand up, and looked at Ginny in wonderment. "You saved me," He said, "Erm... thanks!" he wanted to hug her to thank her properly, but with everything else stupid he had done that evening, he thought it would seem even worse, so he just stood there, feeling pathetic.
