Casey went to the Black lake, carrying a basket full of food. "Hermione? Hermione?" Casey called. She was no where in sight. Casey placed the things down and smiled as she saw Hermione aproaching. "What took you so long?" Casey asked with a smile, trying not to laugh,

Hermione smiled "Oh, well I wanted to grab my copy of Hogwarts, A History I figured you shouldn't have to wait until you find the library to read it. It's very interesting. It helps give you all sorts of information about the castle and what it went through." Hermione shrugged as she sat down next to her and placed the book in front of them. "It always helps to start something with some background information, well, it helps for me anyway." Hermione opened the picnic basket and her eyes widened and her jaw dropped a little. " That is a lot of food! I can tell you that we won't be very hungry later on!" She laughed a little bit and looked at Casey with twinkling eyes " How much do you think we'll eat?"

Casey shrugged. "I eat a lot so it probably wont matter much," Casey said with a smile. She layed down and smiled. "Who do you miss right now? It could be more than on person." Casey said and looked up at Hermione. "I'll tell you if you tell me." She smiled. Casey felt so much happier with Hermione. Though they don't much about eachother, Casey had a feeling she would be as close as she was with Amanda.

"Well...I really miss my parents, they're muggles, so I don't really see them or talk to them at all except during the summertime. We used to be a really close family and everything, then I got my letter from Hogwarts, that changed everything. I had been in a muggle school and then I learn that I'm a witch, it was very shocking, both to me and my parents. I try really hard to make them proud. So that they can know that I'll make something of myself like they did, they're dentists you know." Hermione stretched out her legs and leaned back on her elbows, " Besides that I don't really have any friends outside of Hogwarts, so it's hard for me to miss anyone else. What about you? You're new to Hogwarts so I bet there's a long list of people." She looked over at Casey and smiled encouragingly.

Casey got up to her elbows and looked Hermione into the eyes. "Only 3." She mumbles. "My parents and my younger sister, Amanda. My dad was an Auror." She said with a smile. "My sister was younger than me." Casey sat up and began to stare into the water. "They WERE everything to me." She said, not looking back at Hermione.

Hermione sat up and looked at the side of Casey's face, her smile and twinkling eyes gone, "What happened to them?" She asked gently, she didn't want her to start crying or anything, she always sucked at trying to make people feel better.

Casey smiled. "My parents and my sister is dead." She said as she fiddled with her locket before handing it to Hermione. "It has pictures of them." She said, putting on a smile. She could tell Hermione didn't want any crying session going on. Luckily, she was used to it and couldn't bring herself to cry even if she wanted to. "My parents got killed by death eaters and Amanda and I were sent to an orphanage. They say she drowned at the Swimming Pool but Amanda was an excelent swimmer. I think it has something to do with me. Maybe they found out about us being wizards and killed her because they didn't want her to begin at such an early age. Maybe they don't like wizards. Either way, I intened to find out, whether they like it or not." Casey said before turning back to Hermione. "Sorry. I ramble a lot." She said, putting on the best smile she could though it felt like it was a fake one. She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't some sort of Damsil in Distress! Casey grabbed a sandwhich and began taking small bits from it, turning to face the Lake once again. "You're the first to know. I trust you enough to tell you, but promise me you wont tell." She said, looking straight into Hermione's eyes.

Hermione looked at the locket and saw a picture of a young girl, who looked like Casey's double. She nodded, looked up and gave her a small sympathetic smile. "Do you want me to pinky promise?" She said as she held out her pinky finger, " Oh, sorry, that's something little muggle girls do when they make promises." She slowly lowered her hand and grabbed a sandwich from inside the picnic basket. " So I guess we can call each other friends now, already telling each other our secrets. So tell me, do you like to read? I understand if you don't, but....Oh no, I'm rambling, and you say you ramble."

Casey began laughing hard. "Pinky Promises are good. They're the first type of promise I learned about. Then there was just saying promise." Casey said with a slight giggle. Casey placed out her finger and let it attach to Hermione's. "As for the reading," She began as they let go, "It sort of depends but yes, I read." Casey said with a smile. "Mind if I ask, but it doesn't seem like you talk to your friend Harry, let alone any guys. Wow are they really THAT boring?" Casey asked while taking a huge bite out of her sandwhich, trying to put on a smile though it came out looking weird and silly.

"Yeah, they are pretty boring most of the time. I've gotten tired of them being my only friends, so I sort of left them. If you can say you can leave your friends. So now I'm practically friendless, nobody likes a Know-it-all." Hermione said bitterly, " Except you of course, you're the first person I've talked to like this in a very long time, I've been trying to read a lot, books are like my only friends now." "How about you?" Hermione asked with a smile "You don't seem to talk to many people either." Hermione took a bite of her sandwich and gave her a wide grin.

Casey shrugged, "Probably because I'm not one of thoes popular slytherin girls who chat with Harry and get into his love life or whatever. Honestly, I don't know." Casey said and finished up her sandwhich. "And if books are your only friends now than what am I?" Casey said with a giggle. She pulled out some juice and gave one to Hermione and one for herself. She took a small sip. "This tastes good." Casey said. "Wonder what it is."

Hermione took a sip, "It tastes almost like pumpkin juice, where did you get it anyway? Oh well, it doesn't matter does it?" Hermione laughed quietly. "So, I take it you don't like the Slytherin girls either, I don't blame you, they're so full of themselves and so rude. You'd think the world revolved around them." Hermione took another sip of the strange drink and took a bite of her sandwich. "They drive me insane if you can't tell."

Casey made a small chuckle. "I don't like talking bad about someone behind their backs but I guess I feel relieved to let it out. Especially to someone who could totaly agree." She said with a smile. "Oh and that's right, It is pumkin juice. I keep forgetting about that name. The house elf,,, I think that's it. Well they gave me one and when I said it was for you and me for a picnic they went crazy and filled up the baskey. Oh and they wished for me to tell you to have a great picnic and they hope we both enjoy it. They're so nice. Do you know them or something?" Casey asked though she could probably think of an answer similar to what Hermione had. It was probably just Hermione's kindness that they had a liking for her. Casey thought to herself. Or maybe she helped them or was nice to them seeing as everyone else treats them like slaves,

Hermione looked over at Casey " I'm surprised you got that reaction, the last time I was in there they practically threw me out for saying something about their possible freedom. I started this thing called S.P.E.W which stands for the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. I hate how people treat those poor house-elves, and not a lot of people agree with me." Hermione frowned "What do you think of House-elves?" She stretched her legs out in front of her and laid back with her fingers interwined behind her head. This Casey girl seemed like she would be kind to elves and well everyone for that matter, look at how she was treating Hermione.

Casey shrugged. "That's quiet odd." Casey said. "I think House Elves are kind. Maybe you just have to put the right words together," Casey said with a smile. "I think they would want to stay at hogwarts because this is like their home. If they try getting freedom, where would they live? And what if someone wrong takes them in and treats them badly. I know students here are so mean and rude to them but look at Professor McGonagle. She's nice to them. Or Dumbledor for example. And besides, Hogwarts is supposed to be a safe place. So basically, there's no real harm or danger here." Casey as she streached her legs out, putting one on top of the other and facing Hermione, smiling before relizing Hermione still had her locket. "Oh, mind if I get that back?" Casey asked, pointing to the locket with a smile.
