Jason was walking around this huge school, taking it all in. It was so much different than Durmstrang. He soon found himself in the Owlery. At least, that's what he assumed it was, since he really didn't know where he was going. He looked up at all the owls who were staring down at him suspiciously. He spotted his own eagle owl, Moon, looking at him as well.
"So that's where you went off to," Jason said as he held out his arm so Moon could land upon it.
Jason stroked his owl's head absent mindedly. He really didn't know if he was going to like this school. So far, he hadn't made any friends and it had already been two days. Of course, he wasn't exactly trying to make friends. He was pretty much keeping to himself. He didn't trust these people yet.
Jason turned his head when he heard someone approaching. He really wanted to be alone. He hoped whoever it was wouldn't stay too long.

Amy was heading up to the owlery to send a letter to her mother. She had promised that she would, despite her better judgement. She was almost up all the steps when she heard a voice. It was a male voice. There was no answer to whatever he said so he must have been alone.
Amy hesitated before going all the way up. She didn't want to interrupt whatever this person was doing. She finally walked inside and saw a very cute guy turn around to look at her. She found herself blushing before he even said anything to her. She really didn't know what to say to him so she just looked at him.
Eventually she found her voice and said, "I hope I'm not intruding on anything."

Jason watched as a rather cute girl with long brown hair entered the owlery. He really hadn't expected that. For a moment, he thought she wasn't going to talk at all. When she finally did speak, her voice was very quiet and he had to strain to hear her. He noticed her blush, which made him smile.
"No, you're not intruding. I was just visiting my owl. I'm Jason Cooper. Who are you?"

"Amy Wandwave," Amy practically whispered back.
Just then, her own owl flew down and landed on her shoulder. Amy hadn't expected it and jumped when Swoop's talons dug into her skin. She probably looked like a complete idiot. Her cheeks tunred an even deeper shade of red.
She turned and looked at her owl, "Did you have to do that?" she asked it with annoyance.

Jason laughed easily when he heard what Amy said to her owl.
"I'm assuming that this is your owl? It's pretty," he walked closer and petted its head.
"So what house are you in Amy? I'm a Gryffindor. I really don't know much about the houses so you might have to fill me in," he said as he looked away from her owl and back to her eyes.

Amy averted her gaze from his eyes. She didn't want to be stared at. It made her self concious. Instead, she looked back up at her owl who was now fiddling with a piece of her hair in its beak.
"This is Swoop. She's a snowy owl," Amy said as she continued to look the other way, "I'm a Hufflepuff. They are known for their kindness. At least, that's what I hear," she added the last sentence so she didn't sound like she was bragging.
She hated that she had to be so shy. She really just wanted to be relaxed and calm. Instead, she was blushing like mad and her heart was racing. She took a deep breath and looked up at him. She was going to overcome her bashfullness if it killed her.
"What year are you in? I'm assuming you're new. I haven't seen you around before. I'm a fifth year by the way," she felt very relieved that she had managed to talk normally and not embarrass herself. At least not yet...

Jake nodded. He was please that she had finally decided to look at him. She seemed a bit too tense and nervous. At least she was making an effort though.
"Yeah, I'm new. I just transferred form Durmstrang. My parents thought that Hogwarts would 'straighten me out'. It obviously isn't working," he laughed lightly, "I'm a sixth year. I can't believe you're a fifth year. You look older than that."
He studied her features and decided that if she hadn't just told him, he would have assumed she was sixteen. Her overly mature attitude did her justice too.

Amy completely ignored Jason's complement and instead focused on the other subject, "What do you mean by 'straighten you out'? You a delinquent or something?" she furrowed her brow in confusion.
He didn't seem that bad. He was in Gryffindor after all. It didn't make sense that his parents would want him to change. He seemed like a great guy to her.

Jason shrugged, "They think I'm mental because I don't want to be a death eater like them," he spat with hatred, "They were hoping that I would become one of those... What do you call them? Slytherins? Yeah, well they thought that being a Slytherin would change my mind. But I failed them yet again because I was put in Gryffindor," he smirked as he said it.
He looked away from her and shook his head. He then walked over and leaned against a nearby pillar. He shouldn't have said anything to her. How did he know she could be trusted? Plus, she now knew that both his parents were loyal death eaters. What if she turned against him and ran to tell the Ministry or something?

Amy shrugged her shoulders so that her owl flew off her and up into the rafters. Swoop hooted down at her like she had just been insulted. Amy smiled slightly, Swoop was so spoiled.
Amy then turned and walked a bit closer to Jason, since he had gone to lean on a wall. She thought his story was horrible. She couldn't imagine someone's parents hating their own child like that.
"That's terrible," she said, "How could they not be proud of you? You seem like a very intelligent and decent person to me," she blushed when she said the last sentence.
Forcing herself to stay focused she continued on, "If they can't appreciate what they have, then they don't deserve it. Don't let them stand in your way."

"Trust me, I don't let them get in my way. And if you knew me better, you wouldn't think I was that decent. I'm a bit of rebel," he couldn't help but smirk.
He noticed that she had stepped closer. He didn't know whether to think of this as a good or bad thing. Maybe it was both. He looked up and saw that his owl was now sitting next to hers, both staring down at them expectantly. It made him laugh for no particular reason.
"I think we have quite the audience," he said as he pointed up at the ceiling.

Amy glanced up at the ceiling and laughed when she saw their owls. The laugh came out louder than she wanted it to but she couldn't really take it back. Instead, she covered her mouth and tried her best to hold back yet another blush of embarrassment.
"Well what makes you so rebelious, Jason? You don't look like much of a bad boy," she noticed that her tone had changed. She had taken on a more playful voice and it made her nervous. She wasn't flirting with him, was she? No, she was just being friendly... right? This couldn't be happening.

Jason liked the sound of her laugh. It was high but not annoyingly so. She must not have liked it though, because she broke it off quickly. He raised his eyesbrows when she had changed her tone to a more flirtatious one. Where had that come from? Still, he couldn't really complain.
He laughed lightly, "Well, let's just say... I don't like people telling me what to do. I'm not neccessarily a 'bad boy' as you put it," he looked at her and smiled lopsidedly. His hair had fallen in his eyes, but he didn't make a move to fix it. He noticed that she seemed to be having a conflict within herself all of a sudden.

"I don't like being told what to do either. Although, I don't really speak up very much. I'm kind of shy. You probably already noticed that though," she looked down and kicked at some straw that littered the floor.
She finally looked back up at him, "Well Mr. Rebel, do you play quidditch?"

Jason laughed, "Yeah, I did notice. It was kind of hard not to. But being shy isn't that bad."
He stretched and yawned. He was getting tired of standing still. He really liked to be on the move most of the time, "Yeah, I'm a beater. I can play keeper too. But I think beater is more fun. Why? Do you play?"
He couldn't really see her as the quidditch type. She seemed more like a "watch from the stands" person. Maybe he was wrong. She seemed to be full of surprises.
